Abstract:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

This paper analyzes the narrative function of honor in the three TV shows that appear in the title. The fact that, in the three cases, we are dealing with criminal societies allows us to illuminate the individual experience of honor in groups with very well-defined borders and that are in a state of constant alert. Finally, the success and popularity of the three criminal sagas across cultures invites us to reflect upon the relationship between the values protected by the honor codes in those criminal groups and the moral sentiments of the large and heterogeneous audience<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este trabajo analiza la funci\u00f3n narrativa del honor en tres series de televisi\u00f3n de notable \u00e9xito de p\u00fablico y cr\u00edtica: The Sopranos, The Wire, y Sons of Anarchy. El honor, un fen\u00f3meno que puede ser considerado pancultural, es un tema recurrente en la narrativa f\u00edlmica y literaria. Las tres series estudiadas describen modos de vida de grupos criminales. La subsistencia de tales grupos est\u00e1 constantemente amenazada por otros grupos criminales y las fuerzas del orden. En este trabajo se ha analizado como los c\u00f3digos del honor cumplen tres funciones b\u00e1sicas. En primer lugar, solidifican un orden moral dentro de los grupos criminales que se traduce en un sistema de valores bien definido. En segundo lugar, establecen relaciones jer\u00e1rquicas entre los miembros del grupo. Finalmente, las reglas del honor decretan un sistema despiadado de castigos para los que las traspasan. El an\u00e1lisis del honor en sagas criminales nos invita a reflexionar sobre la siguiente paradoja: Aunque el concepto del honor ha desaparecido en la sociedad moderna, como motivo f\u00edlmico o literario goza de una notable popularidad. As\u00ed lo demuestra el \u00e9xito de las tres series en diferentes \u00e1mbitos culturales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
